Permission to DNF: The Guilt-Free Guide to Reading on Your Own Terms

You don't have a reading problem. You have a permission problem.

You've got three books going at once and you're not sure any of them will get finished. Your Goodreads goal feels like a countdown to failure. You've started telling people you "don't really read anymore," which isn't true — you just feel too guilty about all the books you've abandoned to call yourself a reader.

Permission to DNF is the guide for that exact guilt — not a pep talk about reading more, but a practical case for reading honestly.

• The 3-Question DNF Test: a real way to decide if a book is actually done, in under a minute
• The page-math shortcut that tells you whether to push through or put it down
• A shelf system for tracking what you're reading without a single spreadsheet or app
• Why audiobooks count as reading — the real comprehension research, not an opinion
• How to stop a Goodreads goal from turning your hobby into a chore
• What mood reading actually is, and how to use it on purpose instead of feeling scattered
• A printable Permission Slip & DNF Flowchart for the next time you're stuck on a book

No filler worksheets, no quizzes, no coaching you to fake your way through a book you didn't finish. Just a clear, honest way to read on your own terms — written for the reader who's been quietly beating themselves up over books for way too long.
